Juneteenth is an American celebration that allows all of us to remember and honor the day the last slaves were freed (June 19, 1865). This day is even more important given race relations in America. There are those who want to ‘water down’ our past or pretend that slavery was not as brutal as it has been documented. Our Juneteenth events will continue to educate everyone about the importance of this date and the steps necessary to make the “American Dream” possible for everyone.

On behalf of the Pooler Juneteenth Celebration Committee (PJCC), I would like to thank all our corporate, business, and community sponsors for their generous donations. Last year’s events were overwhelmingly successful, and we could not have achieved that level of success without the support we received from our sponsors, program participants, volunteers, vendors, and food trucks.

How about the committee? I am blessed to have a committee committed to the PJCC vision and willing to do the work needed for success. Words cannot express my pride and gratitude for everyone who worked on this committee.
